Early in 2017, Community UMC had an amazing opportunity to replace the 105 year old grand piano in the Sanctuary with a 9’ 6” Bösendorfer Imperial Concert Grand Piano. The instrument was a unique find: 34 years old and barely used by a doctor who played lightly. This community realized the value and opportunity and responded overwhelmingly to a special funding campaign. Commitments to purchase the instrument were received within one month.

The Bösendorfer Imperial Concert Grand Piano is an instrument that can produce a wide variety of sounds, colors and textures and take full advantage of the acoustics of the room so the Sanctuary becomes an extension of the instrument.

On Sun Sep 24 at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary, Community UMC’s Director of Music Ministry Chris Garofalo along with Joline Bastounes, Beth Buffington, Nate Burke, Mary Elliott, Emily Larson, Sean Les and Marty Matutis will present a program of music chosen to reveal the tonal possibilities of the Bösendorfer Imperial Concert Grand Piano and joyously celebrate the love of music shown by members and friends of the congregation who cherish a sanctuary of beautiful music with a dedication concert and service.
