Did you know that 10.9 million children under age five die each year in developing countries? Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60% of these deaths. That’s 18,000 children who die each day from hunger. How do we get food where it’s needed most? And how can food assistance help people build stronger communities? Feed My Starving Children has a hunger solution that answers both these questions. During the weekend of February 15 we have a special opportunity to join with thirty-one other area churches in an event called “Feed the Need” and to become part of that solution. Working in two-hour shifts at North Central College in Naperville, each volunteer will be able to pack 200 meals, meals that will help save little ones from starvation and even death.
CUMC’s Mission Committee has promised at least 60 volunteers to work on this weekend. Join with your fellow members as we pack thousands of meals that FMSC assures will reach the neediest in our world, whether it be in Haiti, Ghana, the Philippines, Honduras, North Korea or any place where children suffer from hunger.
