Something for Everyone — A Comedy, Tonight!

Community Players is delighted to present its spring show, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, this May. This musical comedy has music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, giving it some fantastic numbers, and is based on plays by Titus Plautus, who wrote back in about 200 BC. It is not unlikely that the apostle Paul would have seen versions of our musical!

The story features the attempts of Pseudolus, a clever and somewhat unscrupulous slave, to win his freedom by arranging for his master Hero to win the girl next door. But complications ensue as we find out she is also a slave (and has been sold!) and between soothsayers, eunuchs, pirates, soldiers, captains, courtesans and long-lost families, it will require tremendous quick thinking for Pseusolos to stay alive, let alone succeed in his goal!

This show features mature themes; please consider it PG-13. It will be presented in Fellowship Hall, and seating will be reserved by row number, so book early to ensure a good seat! There are five performances, listed below, and tickets ($15) may be reserved by phoning Ken Cox at (630) 983-8707
