RefugeeOne was founded in 1982, and in the last 33 years have resettled nearly 16,000 refugees in the Chicagoland area. They have welcomed refugees from every major crisis in recent history and are working towards including Syrian refugees in their count.

After much discussion about the possibilities of working with RefugeeOne from sponsoring a family, providing mentoring to a family, engaging North Central students, to collecting donations, CUMC Refugee Support Team has decided to begin our effort by collecting for the Refugee One bimonthly donations.

You can help RefugeeOne prepare homes for refugees who have fled war, terror and persecution. Because of extremely limited storage space, RefugeeOne cannot accept all items year-round and asks that individuals and groups only donate specific items during their designated months.

To help RefugeeOne prepare homes for refugees who have fled war, terror and persecution, CUMC will be collecting the following items for the month of April:

  • Laundry soap
  • Scouring cleanser and pads
  • Dish soap
  • Large garbage bags
  • All-purpose spray with bleach
  • Welcome Kits
  • Financial donations

A donation basket will be outside the sanctuary starting on Sunday April 3 through Sunday April 24. Please e-mail the church office with questions.

Thanks you in advance for your generosity.
