Well, although you would not know it from the weather, it is September.  Our next STARS group will meet on Thursday, September 12.  We will begin gathering in the CUMC parlor at 1:15pm with the program and interfaith service to start at 1:30pm.
This month we have the pleasure of welcoming the Chime Choir that had it’s beginning at Edward Hospital in October, 2011. This choir came about after Judy Smith and Charlie Welsh attended stroke camp with their spouses, Bob and Pam, respectively. During the camp, the couples learned of the therapeutic and social benefits of playing chimes and brought their enthusiasm for the program home with them. Judy and Charlie discussed the chime choir concept with the staff at Edward Hospital and worked with them as they developed the program and found a music therapist to serve as the Chime Choir director. The rest is history.
In addition to playing for us, the director will discuss the benefits of music and the use of chimes for both the stroke survivors and the caregivers who participate in the program. I believe we will be invited to sing along as the choir plays some of the songs, so come ready to sing.
Following the program and communion service, the support groups will meet from 2-3pm. Last month we added a separate support group for those with long term health concerns such as diabetes, heart problems, pulmonary disorders, and cancer survivors to name a few. As always, you are welcomed to come to either or both parts of our program.
We hope you can join us.  If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me at email@example.com or the church office at 630-355-1483.
