Missions activities at Community UMC in Naperville are guided by four general goals:
- To make disciples of Jesus Christ.
- To strengthen, develop, and renew Christian congregations and communities.
- To alleviate human suffering.
- To see justice, freedom, and peace.
The active support of Missions work is an inviting witness to Christ in the world today. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength and Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30).
Missions support is an integral part of the Community United Methodist Church’s identity and focus. CUMC continues to increase its missions engagement through financial support and volunteers. Would you like to learn more about our missions trips? Are you interested in a missions experience?
For many years CUMC has been a Rainbow Covenant Church, meaning that we made contributions to many different types of United Methodist sponsored programs, globally, nationally, and locally. In 2021, this program has become “Living the Beatitudes, a Call to Action and Connection”. A full overview of the program may be found here.
After you have made a commitment to support CUMC through your annual donation (sometimes called first-mile giving), we ask that you consider making a second-mile commitment. The list describing the 2021 Second Mile giving opportunities is available here. For 2022, these programs will be regrouped to be the “Living the Beatitudes” categories.
Each year the Missions team supports six Special Sundays to promote United Methodist initiatives.
