Volunteers in Missions Trips

The United Methodist Church offers many service opportunities. Missions trips are organized locally, nationally, and internationally. Spending our time and talents to help others is the way we put our Christian faith into action. Personal experience is always rewarding. You receive much more than you give.

The Community UMC missions committee helps members of the congregation get connected to the right mission project. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, we were not able to take any Missions Trips in 2019 or 2020. Missions trips are starting to be organized for the remainder of 2021.  The Northern Illinois Conference has a webpage devoted to Volunteers in Missions and we invite you to visit it to learn more about Missions in our conference. We will add any new trips that CUMC plans to this page.

However, there are many ways to serve locally. Some of these are listed below:

  • For the last four years, Community UMC has partnered with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity along with other area churches to work on the Faith Build House. If you are interested, please visit their website for opportunities to volunteer.
  • CUMC works with DuPage PADS to provide shelter to homeless individuals. Currently, PADS is providing shelter in motels but still has urgent need for meals and supplies.
  • Several CUMC members also provide family dinner at Hesed House in Aurora bimonthly. If you are interested in joining us, contact Pat Becker or visit the Hesed House website for other ways to help.
