Transforming for Tomorrow

About

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, our church family took an exciting step forward. At a Special Church Conference, we unanimously approved launching a $1.8 million capital campaign — Transforming for Tomorrow — to prepare our building and ministries for the next generation of faithful service.

The Four Vital Projects

This campaign isn’t just about updates — it’s about transformation. It’s about equipping our church to better serve, worship, and grow in Christ for years to come. Your support will help us complete four vital projects:

  1. Geothermal HVAC System – A sustainable, energy-efficient solution that will provide consistent heating and cooling for our entire building, lowering costs and caring for creation. [est. $1.5 million]
  2. Interior Building Refresh – Upgrades to our sanctuary and common areas to improve hospitality, accessibility, and overall beauty for all who enter. Changing over the kitchen gas stoves to electric. [est. $115k]
  3. Second Floor Completion – Turning unused space into fully functional rooms for youth, children, small groups, and expanding ministries. [est. $40k]
  4. Exterior Tuckpointing – Essential masonry work to preserve the integrity and safety of our historic structure [est. $95k]

Each of these projects supports our mission and our future. We want our building to reflect the life within — welcoming, vibrant, and ready for ministry in the 21st century.

Special Church Conference
Sunday, April 13 | 11am l Sanctuary

The purpose of the special called church conference had one singular agenda item and was overseen by our District Superintendent, Rev. Wendy Hardin Hermann. The motion read as follows:

  • Whereas: the church’s current boiler system has now completely failed; and
  • Whereas: there is a need for a new HVAC system which cannot be funded by the Basic Ministry Budget; and
  • Whereas: the new HVAC system is necessary and is an immediate maintenance item;
  • Whereas: major maintenance and interior refresh to the building is needed;
  • Therefore: It is so moved and recommended that CUMC enters into a three year capital campaign to raise funds in order to address the capital improvements to the building, and to retain 10% of these funds in a major maintenance fund for future repairs to any of the properties owned by CUMC.
