Mission Trip Fundraisers

Every year, our youth have been involved with mission work around the world. This year the Senior High are going to Slidell, Louisiana to rebuild the homes on Sun Jul 19 – Sat Jul 25.

We are still looking for a Junior High mission project. It will be updated as soon as we find the project. I like to tell you a little bit about the Epworth Project which is the mission project at Slidell.

Epworth Project’s mission statement:

Sharing God’s love working together to restore homes, empower people and change lives.

The Epworth Project was created in 2008 as the ecumenical faith-based, volunteer-driven component of NDRI (Northshore Disaster Recovery, Inc. It all started with the response to Hurricane Katrina. Approximately 70% of the volunteers are from faith-based organizations with the balance coming from college campuses and civic organizations.

Epworth Project actively recruits volunteers from around the country and partners them with local families with home repair needs. EP equips the volunteers with housing, food, tools, and expertise while supporting the partnering local family in need with case management, funding and project management.

In addition to assisting disaster victims, Epworth Project assists the low income and elderly with home repairs and builds handicapped ramps for disabled citizens. You can find more details on epworthproject.com.

If you are interested in going on this mission trip with us, please join us for a presentation on Sun Mar 15, 12:45 pm – 2:00 pm, followed by the YF lunch. The deadline to sign up for the mission trip will be Sun Apr 26.

Many hands lighten the load! Please consider how you can support the following fundraisers:

  1. Chili cook-off was a very successful event. We had 17 different kinds of chilies and 12 different kinds of cornbread. It was lots of fun! We thank everyone who participated in the cook-off, all those who organized the event and of course the guesses.
  2. Easter Breakfast. Sun Apr 12, 9:30 am – 11:00 am. We will need cooks, servers, set up and clean up. Breakfast will take place in Fellowship Hall between the worship services.
  3. Car Wash.  Sun May 17, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. We will need everyone’s gifts to make this work.
  4. Car Wash (Rinse and Repeat!). Sun Jun 14, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. We will need everyone’s gifts to make this work.
